Greed…The Last Of A Dying Breed

From the beginning of time to the present, people’s motto was greed. Between having all the money, gold, and silver to having all the slaves, farms, and property. No matter what it was, people respected (not necessarily liked) you if you carried a sense of greed that could put you over others; monetarily.

I’m here to tell you that the sense of ‘greed’ and more of giving back…is well on track for the near future.

HOW? You may ask…

Well for a number of different reasons leading up to the present:

-As we celebrate the month of Black History, we’re constantly reminded about the blood, sweat, and tears African-American ancestry engraved into the people of the United States. They didn’t use greed to pave the way and put us where we ( as well as descendants) are today. They embraced the ultimate struggle and fought it head on with God’s grace, humbleness, intelligence, and and a whole lot of, you guest it, hard work.

-We look at the recent rip off of rip offs in American investment broker history; Mr. Bernard Madoff. If you look up the definition of greed in the new Webster dictionaries, Madoff picture should be right next to the word…hands down. He ripped off everybody from celebraties to charities (see list of people and companies Madoff ripped off ). Only a monster can embrace the work of Madoff’s schemes and say, ‘he was doing what he had to do’.

-Mobsters and gangsters who caused community genocide to their own neighbors, fellow brothers and sisters. We as a people respect the hustle and the daily grind…legitamitely. Not ways to make a living by robbing, stealing, selling drugs, and violence. The communities of that past are coming to the realization that unity, hard work, and education (the essence of communities) are the true actions towards progression. If you think not, check out the statistics of criminal activity in Massachusetts.

Recommendation:
If you’re a hard working person who wants to save money, make it grow, and put it towards future plans than I recommend Ameriprise Financial. Bonnie Majumdar is my Fincial Advisor with Ameriprise, helping me save for a new home I plan on purchasing in a couple of years. Its free, easy to do, and it helps. Her email address is baishali.x.majumdar@ampf.com if you want to jump start your savings.

A new day and era has come that we thought would never come: a strong charcter of giving back. As a people, we should embrace more of giving back and look at it as an acheivement rather than a set back. Barack Obama turned down a $100,000+ salary job to become a $17,000 salary community organizer; look at him now. I challenge everybody that reads this blog post to make an effort to go out your way (if you’re not already) to make a difference. Help another person or organization thats geared towards bettering ones present and future and look towards doing more of it through-out your lives.

God Bless…

If you want happiness for a year- inherit a fortune.

If you want happiness for a lifetime- help others.”
