We need more of those songs. The biggest entertainer, Michael Jackson, recently passed away talking about positive things and was still able to earn billions off his music and win the hearts of ppl of all races, colors, creeds, religions, etc. Today's generation of music needs to do the same and stop promoting the 'trendy' music every chance they get.

Great points..

Appreciate everybody taking the time to comment on our blog post and sharing your thoughts on the different topics we bring to ya...much luv to all ya'll....word up!

Our kids definitely need to know what time it is when it comes to listening to these explicit songs being played on the radio.

Great point!

definitely. I miss the days where artist would talk about this, but speak out against it, knowing and telling the ppl that this type of hell we face needs to come to an end. We need to promote more of our conscious musicians as well as talented artists who speak out against the demons that plague our community.

Great comment!

"* African Americans account for 48% of new HIV infections
* AIDS is the leading cause of death for African American women aged 25 to 34
* At least half of new infections are among people under the age of 25.
*70% of Black women are single.
*57% of black children are raised in single parents homes"...these inappropriate songs make me sick!!! I use them to teach my children what ignorance sounds like.

This is an amazing entry that really only scratches the surface. As a songwriter/producer I am compelled to reply. The recording industry is a business with one thing on it's mind. MONEY, SALES, NUMBERS, FAME, POWER, VANITY, AND GREED. These are only a few attributes that make up the heartless beast that is the record industry. Record companies are more prone to go for what they seen sell or work. With the success of one "Every Girl" 500 more records like it will be submitted by artist, producers, songwriters, A&R, etc. It's a copy cat industry to the fullest. We are not putting out records that will help heal the world. We are putting out records that we think people will run out and spend their hard earned cash on. Especially pre-teens, teens, and young adults. We try to play to what we think people to relate to and unfortunately because a lot of people/consumers aren't living conscious, people aren't buying conscious so labels are distributing conscious

interesting. honest. true. funny in some instances. kind of sad.

I find myself thinking the same things whenever I listen to the radio. For that reason, my ipod is my best friend.
